Budots to Amsterdam is an experimental dance film that exposes the awkward emptiness of nightlife without movement.
Inspired by Filipino Budots culture, where dance exists everywhere and belongs to everyone, the film places a static club space under pressure.
Through sharp contrasts, close-ups, and absurd stillness, the absence of dance becomes uncomfortable and cold.
A sudden, collective eruption of movement, a modern and distorted Harlem Shake, breaks the silence.
Yet even as bodies start to move together, a true sense of unity fails to emerge, revealing how dance can exist without connection, and how a shared dance culture in Amsterdam remains unresolved.
