DOGS is a project that I started 5 years ago when I arrived to Amsterdam. Everyday, I would take pictures of dogs that I saw in the streets, the tram, the train, restaurants... I also took pictures in different places where I travelled, in Paris back home, in New York during my exchange, in Berlin during visits... it was a social media project at first, my instagram profile consisted of sometimes personal pictures but mostly a lot of dogs. I then thought it would be interesting to see how these pictures could be taken out of a social media platform to a physical installation.
DOGS is born from my passsion for dogs and their underrated complex psychology as well as my photographic practice and my observations of how they exist in our human world.
They are taken everywhere, fitted everywhere and are extensions of the owners and their lifestyles. In the end it didn’t matter where and how but they were treated the same, as pets.
I never thought it would turn out to be a second project for my graduation show but it was such a big part of my daily life for years that I thought it was relevent to make it part of my end of bachelor exhibition.
