TURN TO SAFETY is a performance created specifically for the exhibition “Leave It At the Door”, organized by the VAV department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and hosted by NEVERNEVERLAND. Developed under the movement direction of Inès Destruhat, the piece brought together performers Olena, Philippa, Anya, Fara, and Inès, with the participation of Louise, who acted as a live conduit between bodies and audience.
Some headphones held by Louise were connected to microphones attached to the performers’ bodies.
Through them, the audience could hear breath, friction, fabric, and skin in motion, transforming what appeared to be a silent piece into an intimate, tactile soundscape.
